South West Scotland has a rich heritage of arts and crafts. Kirkcudbright is the home of the Glasgow Boys a movement famed for their interpretation of light. Robert Burns poetry lives on – from his birthplace in Alloway to Dumfries where he became an exciseman.
We are proud that part of the Galloway Forest Park established by the Forestry Commission Scotland has been recognised as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.
